Google has announced that from 16 August, Hangouts users will start losing features if they haven’t migrated to Chat by that point. The company may not seem hung up on just one messaging service, but it is constantly changing things up.At the moment, you can still bypass the message and continue to use Google Hangouts, but that will not be the case for much longer. Let’s hope that this service will be active longer than the previous services of Google.

However, you can get a dedicated Google Chat app. As you can see in the image below, Google Chat is an icon inside the Gmail app. The first button, colored blue, will prompt you for Google Chat in Gmail. It basically navigates you to both Google Chat and Google Chat app in Gmail. This is a sign that tells you that Hangouts is being replaced by Google Chat.

Along with Google’s announcement that Hangouts would be kicking off this fall, the company also started giving users a prompt to switch to Google Chat. That being said, if you haven’t moved yet, you should soon. Many users have already switched from Hangouts, since Google first announced that the service was going back in 2020. Google recently announced that it would be officially ending Hangouts this fall.
